Shahzain Bughti gets key role as SAPM for reconciliation with estranged Baloch

ISLAMABAD; In a major development, the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government has appointed Nawabzada Shahzain Bughti as special assistant to the prime minister on Balochistan affairs.

The cabinet division issued notification of Shahzain Bughti’s appointment on Wednesday.

Shahzain Bughti will have the status of the federal minister and his task will be to bridge gap between the government and estranged Baloch sardars of Balochistan.

A section of Baloch population of Balochistan is staying away from decision -making.

This segment of Baloch society fell into the trap of India which used it for its nefarious designs to destablise Pakistan through terrorism in Balochistan.

The gap of mistrust widened in Musharraf rule which used force against estranged Baloch sardars. The same approach resulted in killing of Sardar Akbar Bughti, father of Shahzain Bughti, in Musharraf’s time.

Since killing of Sardar Akbar Bughti , India is using a section of Baloch youth to fan insurgency in the province.

Although Pakistan managed to curb insurgency in Balochistan in recent years, but none of the last two rules ..one each of PPP and PMLN …did any effort to bridge the gap between estranged Baloch sardars and the state of Pakistan.

This is for the first time in last one and half decades of Pakistan’s history that PTI government has taken a serious step to induct some heavy weight like Shahzain Bughti to give him an important position in government and entrust him with an important task to approach to all estranged Baloch leaders and bring them back in mainstream to take part in national politics.

Shahzain Bughti’s appointment as SAPM is an important development in the backdrop of the prime minister’s recent statement on Balochistan.

In a recent statement, the prime minister had hinted at talking to estranged Baloch sardars and persuade them to come back in Pakistan’s mainstream politics and play their role for peace and progress in Balochistan
