Sialkot: lynching of Sri Lankan citizen shocks Pakistan

PM, COAS determined to punish culprits

SIALKOT; The killing of Preyantha Kumara , a Sri Lankan citizen, who was working in a local factory here as a production manager, by a mob in Sialkot has sent a wave of shock across Pakistan and even beyond.
A charged mob could be seen in a video clip in a premises of a factory in Sialkot Rajco , a leather industry, shouting at and torturing Sri Lankan citizen to death.
The crowed equiped with iron rods and sticks was visible in the video clip while attacking on Preyantha Kumara , who was a textile engineer by profession and working in different cities of Pakistan as textile engineer since 2010.
An eye witness while giving an account of the incident told NEWSMAN that main accused, one of the factory workers, who tortured Preyantha Kumara to death, had soar relations with him and he purposefully accused the victim of blashphamy.
The factory workers who heard his accusation of blasphamy turned furious and rushed in no time towards Preyantha Kumara shouting slogans “Kill him”.
The incident was so shocking that it disturbed everyone in Pakistan. Sialkot District administration sprang- up soon after the incident. It moved quickly to arrests those were among the mob.
Till filing of these reports, the local police had arrested the a number of the accused, but their exact identity was not disclosed.
Meanwhile, prime minister, Imran Khan, had declared to give examplary punishment to those who were incolved in killing of Preyantha Kumara.
He said ” Sialkot incident was an act of shame and unacceptable”.
According to the prime minister, Sialkot incident was a deliberate attempt to malign Pakistan.
Army chief, Qamar Javed Bajwa, also condemned killing of Sri Lankan citizen by a mob and said the Sialkot incident was not acceptable. Interior minister, Shaikh Rashid Ahmad, said the attackers will be given examplary punishment as no one could be allowed to take the law in hand.
Religious minister, Noorul Haq Qadri, also condemned the killing of Sri Lankan citizen in possible strongest words and said all those who were involved in this henious act will get punishment as per law of the land .
