* Sir Jee * !

The shared picture is of Sikander Zaman ( Alexander The Great Of His Times) as named by his parents wishing him to go, see and conquer, one day.

He belongs to the rural and backward background from District Shangla in Swat , starting his career as a primary teacher, but wanted to do justice to his name of Sikander Zaman, that made him go to Peshawar all the way to explore and conquer.
Later, he joined the agriculture department and in the picture Secretary Agriculture can be seen bestowing upon him his well deserved promotion papers that he proudly shared with me so much so inviting me for the celebration of his well deserved promotion.

I met Sikander the very first time at the house of my class mate in Peshawar namely Sadiq Akbar, a Superindentent of Customs. Incidently both belonging to the same district and both sharing the same roof to earn two square meals respectfully back for their respective families. I found Sikander extremely courteous and obedient, who used the word “Sir Jee” more often then its usage was due, while we conversed informally . One can wish some well placed bureaucrats learn courtesy from him.

Some I know of below average calibre never show the courtesy to neither respond nor return calls made to them, as their way of showing their presence felt or when they learn to serve one man who matters, as opposed to the general public, who never matters.

Today, I realised the magical words of ” Sir Jee”, symbolic of obedience that must have helped Sikander get his promotion in an extremely competitive and demanding work environment
Though, both the words are alien both to his own culture and mother tongue of Pushto, one being English and the other Punjabi, yet when combined has its magical effects, positively .

One can only wish Imran Khan some day learn to use both these words together would help him shine like all his predecessors, good at it some way or the other.

I wish Sikander every success in his professional endeavours, who is an inspiration for others, especially me whom I admire for his aristocratic style, wearing black sun glasses indoor, while on his official chair, indeed impressive for some, but intimating for others. .

The last sentence being on a lighter note, as obedience is what the Creator demands of his creation and Sikander will go a long way conquering the world with his sole weapon of “Obedience”. Well done Sikander.
