Speaker accepts resignations of 35 more PTI lawmakers

ISLAMABAD: Jan 17 , 2023: In a bid to block Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) effort to return to the national assembly and claim the office of the opposition leader to become a part of the appointment of the caretaker prime minister , Speaker national assembly, Raja Pervez Ashraf , on Tuesday accepted resignations of 35 more members of the lower house .

The PTI members national assembly whose resignations have been accepted by the speaker in the second phase included Murad Saeed, Omar Ayub Khan, Asad Qaiser, Pervaiz Khattak, Imran Khattak, Sheharyar Afridi, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, Noorul Haq Qadri, Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, Ali Nawaz Awan, Asad Umar, Sadaqat Ali Khan, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Sheikh Rashid Shafique, Mansoor Hayat Khan, Fawad Ahmed, Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel, Hammad Azhar, Shafqat Mahmood, Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Zartaj Gul, Faheem Khan, Saifur Rehman, Muhammad Alamgir Khan, Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, Aftab Hussain Saddique, Ataullah, Aftab Jehangir, Aslam Khan, Muhammad Najeeb Haroon and Qasim Khan Suri.

The lawmakers whose resignations were accepted by the speaker national assembly have been denotified on Tuesday.

A day before , PTI chairman , Imran Khan , had hinted at returning of the PTI lawmakers to the national assembly. He had clearly claimed that in case of absence of his party from the house , the ruling alliance will consult opposition leader, Raja Riaz , for appointment of the caretaker prime minister .

In less than 24 hours after Imran Khan’s hint that his party may return to the national assembly, the government has played a card to block Imran Khan and his party to return to the national assembly and become a part of the process to pick a caretaker prime minister. Apparently , Imran Khan, is too late to return to the national assembly with his party.

His attitude of dissolving two provincial assemblies have also turned him as a man of his own nature which does not suit well to the democratic system of Pakistan.
