SPSC fiasco tip of iceberg of corruption. PDP claims

KARACHI: June 17: Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) fiasco is the tip of the iceberg of massive corruption in this province, said Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor, adding the needs of justice cannot be met till patrons of the government job selling mafia are taken to the task.

Talking to a delegation here, he said the historic verdict of the Hyderabad bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) is an eye-opener for whole nation. He said had the PPP government of Sindh an iota of shame it would have resigned. He said when the Commission for recruitment of civil servants is so filthy corrupt, what could be said about the level of corruption of Sindh rulers. He said the Sindh government has already lost moral cause to rule the province.

He said that government departments have become dens of corruption and it seems that government servants are getting salaries for looting general public. He said corrupt official allow illegal constructions after getting heavy bribes and later courts order demolishing these structures but no action is taken against those corrupt officers who had allowed these illegal constructions in beginning.

Altaf Shakoor said public transport in megacity Karachi is in shambles. The PPP government has been ruling Sindh for more than decade but not a single new public transport bus is introduced in the megacity. He a ture urbanisation of Karachi development of the megacity is not possible and without development of public transport. He said the modernization of public transport is distant dream during the tenure of sitting rulers.

Altaf Shakoor demanded of the government to tag ample funds for development of Sindh especially Karachi. He requested the apex courts that while ordering razing of illegal structures, ordered should be issued against those corrupt officers of concerned departments who wilfully allowed these illegalities during their that tenure of service.
