Sufficient fertilizer stocks available for Rabi season: FRC

ISLAMABAD: The Fertilizer Review Committee (FRC) has estimated that the country has sufficient stocks of fertilizer.
The FRC met under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Industries Production Rana Tanvir Hussain here  today.
The meeting assessed the stock position of DAP and urea fertilizers for the Rabi season 2024-25.
The FRC was apprised about the increase in demand of DAP fertilizer in the country. The DAP offtake estimate was 215,000 tonnes, which has increased to 309,000 tonnesn for Oct 2024.
Tanvir said that the demand of DAP increased by 44 percent mainly due to Punjab govt’s Kisan Carf Initiative.
Under the Initiative, the provincial government has distributed the Rs 75 billion as an interest-free loan.
Punjab Govt has distributed Rs 30,000 per acre for seeds, phosphorus, and nitrogen for 500,000 farmers, each with up to 5 acres (Rs 150,000 per farmer).
