Sufyan’s century leads Dar-e-Arqam Lahore to Central Punjab Weekend School Championship title

LAHORE: April 10, 2022: Muhammad Sufyan’s first innings century helped Dar-e-Arqam Lahore clinch Central Punjab Weekend School Championship 2021-22 title here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday evening. The two-day final was played out a draw between Dar-e-Arqam Lahore and Divisional Public School Faisalabad, but Dar-e-Arqam were declared winners on the basis of first innings lead.
After being put into bat, Dar-e-Arqam managed to score 364 for five in their 75 overs. Player of the match Sufyan coming to bat at number three scored 112 off 126 balls, hitting 11 boundaries. He was supported by the opening pair of Jahangir Bilal and Haseeb Javed, both scoring 61. The pair knitted 120 runs for the first wicket. Muhammad Arshad was other significant contributor with the bat scoring 82 off 88 balls, striking eight fours and one six.
for DPS Faisalabad, Momin Qamar and Tanasal Abbas bagged two wickets apiece.
In turn, DPS Faisalabad in their first innings were 42 for three when stumps were drawn on the first day.
Resuming their first innings on day two, DPS Faisalabad were bowled out for 253 in the 65th over. Arsalan Riaz top-scored with 77, while Bilal Hussain contributed 46 runs. Dar-e-Arqam Lahore’s Hassan Khan grabbed three wickets for 49. Ali Raza and Jahangir Bilal took two wickets apiece.
In their second innings, Dar-e-Arqam Lahore were 110 for eight in 36 overs when stumps were drawn and on the first innings lead Dar-e-Arqam were declared champions. Haseeb Javed – the winning captain received a cheque of PKR 0.5 million along with the winners’ trophy. Meanwhile, Danyal Ramzan – the losing captain received runners-up trophy and a cheque of PKR 0.3 million.
