Antigua : South Africa defeated America by 18 runs in the first match of the Super Eight round of the ongoing ICCT20 World Cup between America and West Indies.
The second phase of the CCT20 World Cup has started. South Africa set a target of 195 runs for the victory of USA in the match being played between the teams of Group 2 at the Sir Vion Richards Stadium in Antigua.
The American captain won the toss and decided to bowl first and failed to contain the South African batting line-up to a small score.
South Africa scored 194 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
On behalf of the Proteas, opener Quinton de Kock scored 74 and Aiden Markram played an innings of 46 runs.
Harmeet Singh and Saurabh Netrawalker took 2 and 2 wickets for USA.
In response, the entire American team could score 176 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted overs and thus faced a defeat by 18 runs.
Andres Goss scored 80 runs not out for USA while Harmeet Singh scored 38 runs off 22 balls.
On behalf of South Africa, Kagiso Rabada took 3 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs, while Quinton de Kock was declared the man of the match for playing a brilliant innings of 74 runs.
