Tax on phone call, internet withdrawn

ISLAMABAD; Finance minister, Shaukat Tareen, on Saturday announced withdrawal of proposed tax on phone calls and use of internet.

The Finance minister annonced withdrawal of tax on phone calls and use of internet here at a post budget press conference held here on Saturday.

The government had announced to impose new tax on phone calls having more than three minutes duration and likewise on the use of internet in its budget presented in the National Assembly on Friday.

Telecom sector had expressed concern over new taxes announced in the budget speech for telecom sector and demanded their withdrawal.

Sources said prime minister,Imran Khan, took notice of the new taxation on telecom sector in the upcoming budget and directed to the Finance minister to withdraw it forthwith.
