Tax payers harassment : Traders announce sit in at FBR HQ on September 29

ISLAMABAD: The business community on Friday announced to stage a sit in “dhana” outside Federal Board of Revenue ( FBR) headquarters on September 29, 2021 to protest against what All Pakistan Anjam e Tajran and Traders Action Committee president, Ajmal Baloch, secretary, Khalid Chaudhary, and other trader leaders called as “anti businesses plan”at a press conference held here on Friday..

These leader accused FBR of creating harassment among business community to reverse commercial activities in the country. Ajmal Baloch noted that FBR rather than restoring confidece of the business community in post corona times was doing everything that would not only damage businesses in Pakistan, but also result in sharp decline in revenue collection. He alleged that FBR, instead enhacing tax base, was creating harassment among tax payers. He called issuance of notices to small vendor- cum- shop owners as height of indifference of tax machinery. Khalid Chaudhary said FBR has turned into a destructive force in Pakistan and its policy of threatening business community will cause irriparable loss to the country. He called upon prime minister, Imran Khan, to take notice of FBR’s anti business acticities to protect businesses from total devastation.
Khalid Chaudhary said the government was aware of damage caused by corona to the businesses, but Finance minister, Shaukat Tarin, who is not from the public representatives, was taking every step to harrass business community. He said FBR failed to protect tax payers data, which was a serious lapse on its part. He apprehended that Pakistan’s hacked tax payers data may be used to hit Pakistan’s interest. The trader leaders announced protest and sit in outaide FBR headquarters and invited business community from all over Pakistan to join the sit in to be held on September 29, 2021.
