3 Judges on JCP Oppose Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan to Lead Constitutional Bench

Decision made with majority vote of 7-5

ISLAMABAD (Newsman): The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has appointed Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan as the head of the Supreme Court’s constitutional bench.

The decision was made with a majority vote of 7-5, under the leadership of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, who is responsible for forming constitutional benches.

Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, the fourth senior-most judge in the Supreme Court, will be joined on the bench by other prominent justices.

Justice Ayesha Malik will represent Punjab, while Justices Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Jamal Khan Mandokhail will represent Balochistan.

Justices Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Hassan Azhar Rizvi will represent Sindh, and Justice Musarrat Hilali will represent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The meeting of the Judicial Commission was attended by several notable figures, including Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Attorney General of Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan, Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar, and Akhtar Hussain, the representative of the Pakistan Bar Council.

Moreover, Senators Farooq H. Naik (People’s Party), Sheikh Aftab Ahmed (Muslim League-N), Omar Ayub, and Shibli Faraz (PTI) were present during the session.
