UAE Extends Visa Amnesty Program Until December 31, 2024

DUBAI, November 1, 2024:  The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) has approved a two-month extension of the UAE’s visa amnesty program, which will now end on December 31, 2024.

Launched on September 1, the program was initially set to end on October 31 but has successfully enabled thousands of residents to regularize their visa status, with authorities waiving millions in fines for overstayers. The extension aligns with the UAE’s upcoming 53rd Union Day celebrations, reflecting the country’s commitment to humanitarian values.

Maj-Gen Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the ICP, stated that this extension provides “the last chance for violators to regularize their status without incurring fines or facing re-entry bans.” He noted a significant increase in applications as the initial deadline approached and urged violators to take advantage of this extended opportunity.

Al Khaili warned that fines would be reinstated for those who fail to regularize their status by the new deadline, and he indicated that inspections on violators would intensify after the program concludes. Overstayers can apply for amnesty at ICP centers, approved typing centers, or online across the UAE.
