Umme Rubab case finally reaches parliament, NSC gives her hearing

THATHA; Umme Rubab, ‘Daughter of Sindh’ case finally landed in parliament on Thursday when the standing committee of the national assembly on Human Rights gave her personal hearing to explain how she was being denied justice by the relevant fora in triple murder case of her family elders.

Umme Rubab was invited by the committee for personal hearing but when she arrived in the meeting the chair (Shazia Mari ) of PPP opposed to give her personal hearing on the context that the matter was subjudice. However other members of the committee disagreed to the chair and on majority’s support , umme Rubab was allowed to give detail of her ordeal as applicant of triple murder case.

Narrating unending ordeal , Umme Rubab informed the committee that the political clout of the powerful and deadly alleged killers was a big hurdle in delivering her justice in triple murder of her family elders.

Umme Rubab known as ‘Daughter of Sindh ‘ for standing against powerful Chandio Sardars (the killers), pleaded all parties not to do politics on an issue of killing of three elders of her family.

Talking to NEWSMAN by phone, Umme Rubab said I know some members did not want to give her hearing in standing committee meeting as their party was protecting to the accused but on insistance of other members she was allowed to give details of those hurdlea and difficulties hampering delivery of justice to her in the case.

She said ” After initial denial, the chair of the committee gave her personal hearing in the case for which she was thankful to all members of the committee”.

Umme Rubab ‘s case wherein she is an applicant is a triple murder case of her family elders including father, grandfather and real uncle , who were murdered heniously by Chandio Sardars for viocing against their injustice to the locals.

The politically backed by Pakistan People Party (PPP) , Chandio Sardars had committed the crime of killing three family elders of Umme Rubab in 2018.

The case was registered againat the accused, but since they were influential the police was reluctant to arrest them.

Umme Rubab seeing lethargic attitude of the police, moved the Supreme Court for arrest of alleged killers of her family elders. The apex court after hearing the case, ordered the police and compliance report .

On the Supreme Court orders, the accused were finally arreated but Umme Rubab is yet to get the justice .

Now seeing undue protection of the accused, some members of parliament had raised the issue of systematically denial of justice in the case in parliament.

The matter was referred to the standing committee of the house in human rights.

The PPP which was allegedly protecting the accused Sardars started to block the move and its chairman Bilawal Bhutto managed to drop the Umme Rubab issue from the agenda of the meeting scheduled for August 12, 2021

But on continuous , the PPP had to allow Umme Rubab to present her case before the committee.
