University Town Housing Society office sealed for fraudulent sale of plots

ISLAMABAD/ RAWALPINDI: In a decisive move to enforce urban planning laws, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), in collaboration with the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, sealed the head office of the University Town Housing Scheme situated in G-11 Markaz, Islamabad. The action was carried out under the directives of RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza.

According to an RDA spokesperson, the sealing of the office came in response to serious violations of the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Schemes Rules, 2021. These violations included the unlawful sale of plots, illegal development activities, and deceptive marketing practices. The spokesperson further revealed that the scheme had been the subject of multiple complaints by allottees submitted through various platforms including the Ombudsman Punjab, CM Portal, and PM Portal.

Director General Kinza Murtaza reaffirmed the authority’s resolve to uphold the law, stating that RDA remains committed to protecting the public’s interests and ensuring all housing schemes adhere strictly to regulatory frameworks. She emphasized that violations threatening the safety and well-being of residents or undermining the integrity of urban development would not be tolerated.

The operation, part of a broader initiative to strengthen estate management standards, was led by Director MP&TE Muhammad Tahir Meo, Deputy Director Planning Samiullah Niazi, Deputy Director Administration Iftikhar Ali, Assistant Director Planning Ali Raza, and Islamabad Magistrate Ghulam Murtaza, along with other team members.

RDA has vowed to continue monitoring housing developments and take further legal steps as necessary to ensure full compliance. This operation highlights the authority’s active enforcement approach, aiming to promote transparency, accountability, and sustainable urban planning across the region.
