Winners of World Press freedom day Quiz 2026 announced

Islamabad (May 3, 2026): On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, the Press Network of Pakistan (PNP) has announced the winners of the World Press Freedom Day Quiz 2026. This nationwide initiative was designed to promote awareness about press freedom, media literacy, and the vital role of responsible journalism in a democratic society.

“The Press Network of Pakistan extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the winners of the World Press Freedom Day Quiz 2026. Their success reflects not only their knowledge but also their commitment to promoting awareness about media responsibility and freedom of expression,” stated Mr. Sabahuddin Qazi, Chief Executive PNP, while emphasizing that after thorough evaluation, the best performers who demonstrated exceptional knowledge, dedication and commitment to promoting media awareness were declared winners.

During the quiz contest aligned with the global theme for World Press Freedom Day 2026, titled: “Shaping a Future at Peace,” participants were tested on the historical background of the day, UNESCO’s role, the journalistic struggle for press freedom, constitutional provisions like Articles 19 and 19-A, the role of regulatory bodies such as PEMRA, and global press freedom benchmarks. It also aims to provide a balanced understanding of how media systems operate within Pakistan and internationally.

The World Press Freedom Day Quiz 2026 successfully combined education, digital engagement, and public participation. According to PNP, the quiz is designed to educate participants on key aspects of journalism, including media laws, ethical reporting standards, and the challenges faced by journalists in Pakistan and globally.

A unique feature of this quiz was the overwhelming response from participants, including students, journalists, and citizens across the country. “Participating in the World Press Freedom Quiz helped me understand the real importance of media freedom in Pakistan. It was not just a quiz, but a learning journey,” one of the contestants stated. Such testimonials reflect the campaign’s success in not only encouraging participation but also inspiring others to actively promote awareness about press freedom.

The PNP chief also appreciated the enthusiastic participation of all contestants who contributed significantly to making this initiative a meaningful and impactful success. “We encourage the winners to continue being ambassadors of informed dialogue and responsible media engagement in society.”

The top achievers, representing participants from across Pakistan who demonstrated exceptional knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm, include Seher Safdar (Karachi), Muhammad Anfal (Islamabad), Sarosh Ahmad (Peshawar), Hafiz Muhammad Abubakar (Muzaffargarh), and Aqsa Malik (Rawalpindi).
