Islamabad: Oct 27 : A respected figure and community leader from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zubair Elahi has been elected as the president of the Global Peace Jirgah. The organization’s goal is to address regional and individual issues in line with Pashtun traditions and promote peace within the province.

The swearing-in ceremony for the Global Peace Jirgah’s leadership took place at National Press Club Islamabad, with the participation of tribal elders and prominent figures from former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Former Frontier Constabulary Commandant and Inspector General of Police, Liaqat Ali Khan, administered the oath to the newly elected officials.

Zubair Elahi, during a press conference after the ceremony, expressed his belief that the Chief of Army Staff and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff can lead the country out of its current crises. He also stressed the nation’s desire for accountability before elections.

Elahi emphasized the importance of the decision to expel illegal Afghan residents from the country. He highlighted that these residents have contributed significantly to terrorism and crime in Pakistan. Elahi assured that the Global Peace Jirgah would collaborate with government and institutions to achieve this goal.

Previously, the Peace Council helped the government send back illegal Afghan residents from Karachi and now aims to expel them from across the country.

Zubair Elahi announced the Jirgah’s intention to send relief goods and 500 volunteers to Gaza to aid the oppressed Palestinian population. He noted that if the government permits, two hundred thousand Pashtuns stand ready to go to Palestine as volunteers.
