Kamala Harris: US Ready to Elect First Woman President

Washington: Although she downplayed her historic bid, Kamala Harris stated on Tuesday that America is “absolutely” ready to elect its first female president. She said that she only wants to turn the page for a country “exhausted” by Donald Trump.

In a campaign that polls indicate is virtually even, Kamala Harris and Trump are filling swing states with rallies and using podcasts and the radio to gain an edge. Election Day is just two weeks away.

When asked if America was ready to elect its first woman, Harris said “absolutely” during her appearance on the national NBC network. However, she also mentioned that her candidacy was about “turning the page.”

She said, “People are exhausted with Donald Trump and his approach because it’s all about himself.”

In North Carolina, Trump delivered a completely different message to his fans.

He said, “This election is a choice between whether we will have four more years of incompetence, failure, and disaster, and whether we’ll begin the four years in the history of our country.”

Extreme tensions, concerns of violence, and Trump’s refusal to acknowledge the outcome of a defeat—as he still does after losing to Joe Biden in 2020—overshadow the election.

Harris told NBC that her campaign was “of course” prepared for the possibility that Trump might declare victory before the vote-counting process, which may take days, is finished.

Biden, who has rarely appeared during Harris’ campaign, took a shot at Trump on Tuesday by rephrasing the former president’s well-known anti-Hillary Clinton cry, “Lock her up.”

While in New Hampshire, Biden told a small group of people that “we got to lock” Trump up, adding that it was important to “politically lock him up” as soon as possible.

As he runs against Kamala Harris to replace Biden, Trump is facing numerous pending criminal accusations. The White House has been extremely cautious not to comment on the Republican’s legal issues.
