Karachi; Journalists up in arms against attack on colleague

KARACHI: A group of miscreants attacked Amir Latif, a senior journalist and former general secretary of Karachi Press Club, on Tuesday and injured him seriously.
As per details given in the first initial report) FIR) , Amir Latif was attacked by a gang of miscreants in parking area of Ambr Medical Store at M A Jinnah road Karachi leaving the victim seriously injured. The people who had gathered at the scene grabbed one of the miscreants who was later identified as Azhar. He was later handover to the police.

A case has been registered by Praidi police on the complaint of mir Latif.
The police presented the arrested accused before a local court and got his physical remand. The police informed the court that it requires physical remand of the arrested accused to chase out other accused of the case. The court granted one- day remand of the arrested accused and ordered the police to present him to the court on completion of the remand along with the initial investigation report of the case.

The police informed the court that it has attached the property with the case related to the incident.
Meanwhile, Karachi press club president, Faazal Jamili and secretary, Rizwan Bhatti, and other senior journalists have strongly condemned attacked on Amir Latif and demanded of the police to arrest all the accused immediately besides taking urgent measures to ensure safety of the journalists.
