ISLAMABAD : March 31,2023: The government again did not pass on the benefit of lowering prices of crude oil in global market to the local commuters as it decided to maintain the rates of petrol and high speed diesel (HSD) for the next fortnight.
In its summary the Oil and Gas Development Authority (OGRA) had recommended the government a substantial cut in the prices of diesel and petrol for next fortnight.
The government instead passing on the benefit of the lowering prices of crude oil decided to appease the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by not giving relief to the masses in the prices of petrol and HSD
Instead reducing the rates of two major petroleum products–petrol and HSD, Shahbaz Sharif government reduced the rate of light diesel and kerosin by Rs 10 per liter .
Finance minister , Ishaq Dar , announced the decision to maintain the rates of petrol and diesel at a presser here on Friday.
A notification issued by the Finance Division said petrol and HSD prices will remain unchanged at Rs 272 and Rs 290 per liter respectively from April 1 to 15. However , with decrease of Rs 10 per litre , the new prices of kerosin and light diesel have been fixed at Rs 180.29 and Rs 174.68 per liter respectively.
