PESHAWAR: A Police officer with high performance has been sidelined through a useless posting. Ex SSP Peshawar, Yasir Afridi, has been posted as Principal at ATC Training School Nowshera on his return from Mid Career Management Course MCMC.
According to reliable sources, normally a Ranker or Shoulder Promoted DSPs or poor performing police officers have always been assigned such posts. But for the first time in the history of the KP police, a brilliant PSP officer has been posted to this post. On the other hand, many junior police officers have been granted shoulder promotions and posted as DPOs in the districts of KP. The officers of PSP cadre are very angry over this move. The IGP Moazzam Jah Ansari transferred Yasir Afridi just to compel him leave KP, but Yasir Afridi took charge of his post proving that he can prove his mettle everywhere. Yasir Afridi has excelled as SSP in Peshawar, DPO in Bannu and Abbottabad, making him one of the favorite cops of the people. When the media men tried to know his comments, his reply was “no comments”. If IGP KP has started harassing him without any reason and had the lame excuse of receiving orders from the Chief Minister. But this excuse seems counter productive as it can irk hatred against the Chief Minister in the hearts of the police officers and public, but the CM has no knowledge about this game. In past Moazzam Jah Ansari has grilled honest police officers in Frontier Constabulary. An FC officer had written a letter to national accountability bureau NAB alleging that Commandant FC was involved in illegal and undesirable activities. Using the card of good relation with Prime Minister’s Secretary Azam Khan, the IGP KP is bringing the PTI government into disrepute. During his posting in KP, there has been a huge increase in irregularities and corruption in Police. few RPOs and DPOs have been posted in the ranges and districts whose record is full of filth. Despite this corruption, Ansari is waiting to be promoted to grade 22.
