50 degree feel-like temperature turns Islamabad into a real oven

ISLAMABAD: June 23, 2023: Islamabadits are braving a deadly heatwave which rose the mercury to 41 degree that, according to google, feels like 50 degrees, forcing vast majority of the residents of the federal capital to stay indoor during peak hot hours of the day. High temperature is unprecedented and unbearable and it warns the residents of the federal capital not to expose themselves to the current heatwave.

Historically, the residents of Islamabad are considered lucky to have less hot weather in summer season than other cities of Pakistan, but this June has proven otherwise. On June 23 temperature is recorded at 41 degree making its impact as feel like 50 degree which is hard to bear for the residents of the federal capital.

MET Department and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) have issued warnings for the people to take extraordinary care in order to save themselves from deadly impact of the current heatwave.
An update on Pakistan’s weather on June 23 suggests Nukkundi in Balochistan remains the hottest city of Pakistan with 49 degree and its followed by Sibi with 48 degree and Jackabad in Sindh with 47 degree temperature.

The doctors are also advising to the people to stay home and do not go out unnecessarily. They are also advising to the people to enhance intake of water and other liquids to avoid de-hydration during the on-going heatwave.
India too is facing unbearable heatwave and its people are feeling it difficult to bear its brunt. According to the Indian media reports, at least 175 people have died in India due to the on-going heatwave.

Hot summer adds to the problems of under privileged people of Pakistan and India every year but this summer is making it even more difficult for this segment of the society to bear the brunt of the killing heatwave.

The heatwave is also turning deadly for sacrificial animals which have been brought into the selling markets from far flung areas. According to the animal sellers, it’s difficult to protect sacrificial animals is such a killing heatwave.

Nasir Ahmad, an animal seller in Islamabad market, told local media on Friday that the sacrificial animals are falling down due to unbearable heatwave.
