LAHORE :. July 31, 2022. Amid growing controversy , Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chairman , Imran Khan , on Sunday conveyed to his party members of the national and Punjab assembly hailing from Lahore and Gujranwala divisions that the general elections are likely to be announced in next 6 to 8 weeks and they should focus on organisation of the party to win next elections.
Imran Khan’s claim has seconded Shaikh Rashid Ahmad , one of his political aides , who had claimed just 24 hours ago that all stakeholders including the neutrals have agreed to hold general elections in Pakistan in October this year. He had further claimed that Maulana Fazal ur Rehman was the only one who is opposing the proposed early elections .
Federal minister and a Pakistan People Party (PPP) senior leader, Syed Navid Qamar , had refuted Shaikh Rashid’s claims in the strongest manners and claimed that Shaikh Rashid Ahmad lies in routine to get media coverage .
Now the claim of early elections in the country has come from PTI top man.
Imran Khan categorically conveyed to the members parliament of his party who held meeting with him in Lahore on Sunday that the general elections could be announced in the country in 6 to 8 weeks and they should get ready to go to the next general elections with full preparedness.
Imran Khan as usual repeated his mantra on this occasion that fair and free elections was the only way to pull the country out of the current fisco .
Exactly, when Imran Khan was telling his party leaders and members parliament that the general elections were around, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and Jamiat e Ulema Islam Fazal (JUI-F) chief , Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, told a press conference in Islamabad that the coalition government will complete its tenure and the general elections will be held after completing 5-year term of the assemblies in 2023.
But the question arises why PTI chief , Imran Khan, and his close political advisor , Shaikh Rashid Ahmad , are so confident that the announcement of early elections is around?. Is anyone assuring them that their demand of early elections will be met at any cost?
Another question that may boggles one’s mind is as to why the government side is so confident that it is going to complete constitutional term of the current assemblies ?.
At present , both the government and PTI seem playing with each other and none is willing to go for fresh elections.
The government wants to
keep clinging to power for some more time with a hope that it could make correction on economic front and pull the country out of current mess and if it succeeds it will help its coalition parties win vote in next elections .
PTI and Imran Khan would not like to go to early elections as he has the rule in Punjab and KPK. He would like to enjoy this rule in two provinces for at least few months . Otherwise , if PTI is interested in early elections what is stopping it from dissolving the assemblies in KPK and Punjab and have fresh elections .
