ISLAMABAD . August 3, 2022. As political temperature rises and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) gears up to protest against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for its ruling in foreign funding case , the ruling coalition has decided to tighten noose against top leadership of PTI including its chairman , Imran Khan.
The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leadership held threadbare discussion on post ECP ruling scenario and decided to fix up those PTI leaders who had been directly involved in management for the party funds. These PTI leaders who are on the federal government’s radar for action like arrest included former speaker national assembly , Asad Qaiser , former deputy speaker , Qasim Suri, former federal minister and secretary general of PTI, Amir Kalyani , chief coordinator and senator , Saif Khan Niazi.
The PDM leadership also decided to place names of PTI top leadership including Imran Khan on the exit control list (ECL).
The government will seek approval of placing PTI leadership on ECL from the federal cabinet meeting with prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , in the chair on Thursday.
Subject to approval from the federal cabinet , the government will move to next phase of filing a reference before the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) for disqualification of Imran Khan.
In the first step , the government may order the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to arrest second tier leadership of PTI.
The government mood indicates a tough days ahead for Imran Khan and his party…PTI.
On the other hand PTI is determined to lodge protest against ECP for giving a ruling to declar it a party that had received illegal funding between 2008 and 2012.
