Govt deprives public from relief in oil prices again

ISLAMABAD : August 31,2022. The Shahbaz led government on Wednesday declined to pass on benefit of lowering prices in global market to the consumers and revised upward the rates of petroleum product prices again for a fortnight.

The Finance Division issued the notification of the new petroleum products prices .

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has calculated reduction in all products of the petroleum for next 15 days, but prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , reversed its recommendations and instead passing on benefit of lowering prices to the consumers ,raised the rates of petroleum products for local market .

Its second conecutive upward revision in the last one month when the prime minister declined relief in petroleum product prices to the commuters.

The government had increased the rates of petroleum products on August 15, 2022 in the same fashion .

Interestingly , Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) had got divided on the increase of petroleum products announced on August 15

Even PMLN top leader, Nawaz Sharif, had shown public anger over the increase in the rates of petroleum products.

Now after two weeks, Shahbaz and Miftah’s duo had done the same thing.

According to the official notification, with an increase of Rs 2.07, petrol prices went up to Rs 235. 98 per liter. High Speed diesel (HSD) rates have been increased by Rs 2.99 per liter. Its new price is Rs 247.43 per liter.

Light diesel rates increased by Rs 9.79. its new rates are Rs 201.54 per liter.

Kerosene oil rates increased by Rs 10.92 per liter. Its new rates are Rs 210.32 a liter.
