ISLAMABAD :. Army chief , general Qamar Javed Bajwa, has said the armed forces have distanced themselves from politics and want to stay away from politics in the future.
The army chief made this important statement at luncheon held at Pakistan and Embassy in Washington.
He added that the economic turnaround should be top priority of the government and other stakeholders as without economic stability the nation can not achieve its goal.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa had important meetings on Tuesday with top US officials . He Thanked U.S. officials for their support and reiterated that assistance from global partners shall be vital for rescue and rehabilitation of the flood victims in Pakistan.
The Army Chief met with U.S. Secretary Of Defence General Lloyd James Austin, National Security Advisor Mr Jacob Jeremiah Sullivan and Deputy Secretary Of State Wendy Ruth Sherman.
The matters of mutual of interest, regional security situation and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed in the meetings.
The two sides agreed that Pakistan – US have long history of bilateral cooperation and shall continue improving through economic ties, trade and investment.
COAS offered heartfelt condolence on the deaths and devastation caused by hurricane in Florida. He said that Pakistan fully understands the loss and pain of victims’ families as Pakistan is suffering from similar effects of climate change.
Both sides had convergence on major international issues including afghanistan and need for cooperation to avoid humanitarian crisis and improving peace and stability in the region.
