Al-Qaeda, other banned outfits can target Imran Khan in Rawalpindi long march; Intel. reports

PTI shuns threat alerts , decides to go ahead with long march

ISLAMABAD :Nov 23,2022; The federal government has warned the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) that it has intelligence reports which indicate that some ‘Jihadi’ fanatics can launch attack on the long march to target its chairman , Imran Khan, and subsequently weaken the country.

In a letter addressed to PTI secretary general , Asad Umar , the Interior ministry said on Wednesday that there were intelligence reports indicating that some banned religious outfits or international terror group including Al-Qaeda can take benefit of the situation and use PTI long march scheduled for November 26 in Rawalpindi to target PTI chairman , Imran Khan and other participants of the march. The Interior ministry has also sent a top secret letter to the provincial governments asking them to provide foolproof security to Imran Khan and his march.

PTI leadership has been provided the reports of the intelligence agencies which contains details of possible attack by Al-Qaeda and other local banned groups on PTI long march in Rawalpindi .

The Interior ministry has appealed to the PTI leadership to call off its Azadi March scheduled in Rawalpindi for November 26 2022.

The letter of the Interior ministry also refers Wazirabad firing incident and warns PTI leadership to avoid a situation which could provide an opportunity to the terror groups to attack Imran Khan in Rawalpindi.

In the first phase of PTI march, an armed person had opened up fire on the PTI long march in Allahwala Chowk in Wazirabad . The firing left one dead and many injured including the PTI chief and other senior PTI leaders .

In its reaction to the advice of the Interior ministry, PTI has turned down the federal government appeal to call of long march to be organised in Rawalpindi.

PTI senior leader ,Shibli Faraz , rejected the federal government to call off long march of November 26. Speaking at a private TV channel , Shibli Faraz said PTI will go ahead as per schedule to hold long march on November 26. He said it was the responsibility of the federal government to provide foolproof security to Imran Khan and his long march. He said the federal government will be responsible of any mishap if, God forbid, occurs during PTI long march.
