This particular picture was taken on a rainy day of February 9th 2023, at the hard core business center of Rawalpindi called ” Raja Bazar”. I hardly have any information to trace the origin of Raja after whom this particular Bazar was named but the narrow streets and the historic fort located in the vicinity signifies this place to be once historic as well as of mixed demographics including the Sikh and Hindu traders.
The human civilisation has made unprecedented progress in the 21 Century and continues to progress going into the unchartered domain of human intelligence through the artificial intelligence but here I observe our civilisation to be in the reverse order as seen in the picture of the goods laden cart pulled not even by the animals but humans themselves, is what we brought the human dignity to, sadly lower than that of the animals.
One can understand that humans in this part of the world continue to battle for survival in the face of the galloping inflation that makes saving each penny precious to help support the luxurious lifestyle of the selected few whether the political leaders, feudal Lords or the bureaucrats, due to whom the economic wheel of the country moves in anti- clock order.
This push cart moving in the opposite direction on the ‘one way, making life for itself and others difficult in the absence of those responsible to maintain order, in the wake of the law that already stands eroded, being trampled by the mighty in the society at their will. I wonder whether the Honourable Commissioner , Deputy Commissioner, Regional Police Officer, City Police Officer, District Police Officer all cocooned in the warmth and luxury of their offices look at the chaos that exist in this business hub which hardly they would have visited as their souls remain on the streets of New York while they physically are supported by these narrow streets with trillion worth of turn over in day .
