IHC grants two weeks interim bail to Imran Khan in Al-Qadir Trust case

Imran Khan holds brief talks with media

ISLAMABAD: May 12, 2023: A divisional bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC)comprising justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Rifat Imtiaz, has granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan, for two weeks in Al-Qadir Trust case.

PTI chairman , Imran Khan, was present in the court room during the hearing. Khawaja haris, Imran Khan’s counsel , argued before the court that his client had appeared before the case in almost every case despite facing serious threats to his life and he was present in the same court when he was arrested on Tuesday. He further argued that his client always keeps supremacy of law and constitution supreme and the court should grant him bail in Al- Qadir Trust case.

Deputy prosecutor, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) , Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi, opposed bail of imran Khan in this case. He argued that Imran Khan never surrendered before the court in any of the case filed against him since his ouster from power.
The court after hearing the arguments of both sides, granted bail to PTI chairman Imran Khan in Al-Qadir Trust case for two weeks.

After getting bail, former prime minister had brief chat with media in the court room. He said he was not responsible of qnything which happened in the last two days.

IHC’s divisional bench heard the case of Al-Qadir Trust case against former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan, today

The Islamabad police have produced Imran khan in IHC in Al-Qadir Trust case.
Former prime minister was produced in IHC in a foolproof security cover. Islamabad police, Frontier Constabulary and the Rangers have been deployed for security of Imran Khan .

Only the counsels for Imran Khan and journalists are allowed to enter in the court room during hearing of the case .
IHC had passed an order in the case couple of days ago ruling that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) act to arrest Imran Khan from its premises was illegal . IHC had also granted a 8-day physical remand of the former prime minister and handed over to him to NAB for investigations.
Just in less than 24 hours, SCP took up a plea filed by PTI and after a brief hearing overturned the decision of IHC and ordered to release Imran Khan . A 3-memebr SCP bench had ruled that NAB action to arrest Imran Khan from the premises of IHC was invalid and illegal. Top court ordered IHC to rehear the case of Imran Khan. The government had bitterly criticized SCP’s Thursday’s decision on PTI plea and termed it as a mockery of justice.
Meanwhile, Islamabad district administration has taken extraordinary measures to deal with PTI protestors with full force.

By filing of these report, PTI protesters had clashes with Islamabad police in H-11 area which is close to the Police lines where former prime minister was hosted tonight on the orders of SCP. The Islamabad police have also arrested around one dozen activists of PTI in Islamabad .
