These pictures taken on 27th September 2023, at 11 AM in Landikass Swat would surely be a shocking revealtion to Honourable Brig.Dr.Muhammed Naveed ,the incumbent Principal Army Burn Hall School Abbottabad , himself a seasoned educationalist from the Pakistan Army Education Corps.
What was shocking for me was when I observed the two teenaged boys Bilal and Zohaib killing their time by the stream across the Swat Press Club Road. On my first sight,it occurred to me as if they were playing truanacy ( not attending school without knowledge of either the parents or teachers ), but on my probe discovered a shocking fact.
These guilty conscience striken and resultantly terrified and under confidence school boys were asked to leave after being late by 15 minutes and according to them were never habitual late comers. What the person named Saif Ullah, who ordered the boys altogether reportedly 15 in numbers realised that this irresponsible act of his could result into a serious mishap of the boys falling into the wrong hands when their parents were unaware of their children whereabouts and activities during the school hours. I also discovered that last year a boy named Abdur Rehman died mysteriously when he was asked to leave the school after being late. One wonders whether making the late comers stand for half an hour facing the wall with the hands stretched up wouldn’t have been a better idea than putting both their lives and future at stake.
But what can be expected of a motor vehicle mechanic named Javed who owns this school or his brother namely Saif Ullah who acts as its Administrator. This shocking state of affairs of education in Pakistan after the state’s failure to ensure its citizens are properly educated through state owned educational institutions resulted into the mushroom growth of such institutions with slightest ideas of what imparting quality education means and its impact on the society that keeps promoting ignorance as opposed to literacy ( the ability to read and write). Two different subjects and polls apart in both its interpretation and application.
I wonder with so many government bodies that exist to supervise and presumably serve education, how such a reputable name of a reputable institution was allowed to be registered as a private school in the first place without due regard and consideration to its faculty and management. Army Burn Hall school is not only a pee-partition historic educational institutions rather serves as an alma mater to the thousands of its well known Almunus serving the country both nationally and Internationally at important positions.
One can expect from the Ministry of Education KP its Director of Education in District Swat and the local Administration particularly the incumbent Deputy Commissioner Dr. Qasim Ali Khan, take immediate cognizance of such irresponsible and unprofessional conduct of these so- called educationalists who are doing more disservice to education than promoting it.
