Pakistan conduct long range ‘Ababil’ missile test successfully

RAWALPINDI : Oct 18 : Pakistan on Wednesday successfully tested ‘Ababil’ missile weapon system.

According to a statement released by Pakistan Army Public Relations Department (ISPR) here aim of the missile system test is to strengthen its deterrence and evaluate the performance of various designs, technical parameters and various sub-systems of the weapon system.

ISPR said the missile system aims to strengthen the deterrence of any potential aggression and enhance regional strategic stability through its full functionality.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, senior officers of Strategic Planning Division and Strategic Forces Command, scientists and engineers of strategic institutions witnessed the successful experiment. The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee appreciated the technical ability, dedication and determination in this successful experiment.
It should be noted that in January 2017, Pakistan had successfully tested the first Ababil missile with a range of 2200 km.

Ababil surface-to-surface missile can fly up to 2200 km. The report stated that the special feature of this missile is the MI used in it. RV is technology that can hit multiple targets simultaneously.

According to the report, this missile has strengthened Pakistan’s defense capability, Pakistan has become the seventh country in the world to use this technology, which was developed by the US and Russia in the late 60s. India successfully test-fired the Agni-5 missile using MIRV technology in 2012, and another successful test in 2013, causing strategic instability in South Asia.

Pakistani experts needed to develop a missile with MIRV technology, based on which Pakistan created this technology. Similarly, on April 9, 2022,

Pakistan successfully tested the surface-to-surface ballistic missile ‘Shaheen 3’.

ISPR’s official Twitter statement said that the purpose of the Shaheen-3 ballistic missile test was to re-evaluate the design and technical parameters of the missile. Earlier, on August 12, 2021, Pakistan had successfully tested the surface-to-surface ballistic missile ‘Ghaznavi’.

ISPR had said that Ghaznavi is a surface-to-surface ballistic missile and the purpose of the test was to ensure the operational readiness of the Army Strategic Command Force while revalidating the technical parameters of the weapon system.
