Faisalabad – Oct 18: In a stunning revelation of heroic police work, the Faisalabad police have successfully unraveled the mystery behind two daring bank heists that had sent shockwaves through the city.
The audacious robberies at HBL Bank’s Millat Road Branch and Bank Al Falah near Jamia Chistia Chowk had been the talk of the town, but today, they stand as stories of resilience and dedication in the face of crime.
The first chapter of this saga began on July 18, 2023, when the HBL Bank Millat Road Branch was robbed of a staggering 5.6 million rupees by a group of national-level robbers. The robbers’ audacity left investigators clueless about their entry, but they left hints of their exit strategy.
The plot thickened on October 6, 2023, when Bank Al Falah near Jamia Chistia Chowk fell prey to a massive robbery, with the criminals making a dramatic entry using an onion-wrapped black insulation tape and a keychain along with a ring hanging out, designed to mimic a hand grenade.
It turns out that these culprits were no strangers to the world of crime, with a similar case in Rawalpindi’s PS Sadiqabad jurisdiction dating back to 2018. As always, Faisalabad police decided to deal with these criminals firmly and bring them to justice by arresting and prosecuting them in a court of law. For the same, a team was formed under the supervision of SP Irtaza Komail, along with other senior police officers, including Sub Inspector Rizwan Bhatti (SHO Jhang Bazar Police Station), Sub Inspector Babar Gujjar, Muhammad Javed Gujjar In charge Cellular Detection Unit (CDU), and lastly HC Rahan Ali Khaliq Data Analyst. The relentless
Rahan Ali Khaliq had an excellent record in tracking criminals using technological tools and had also received formal appreciation from Provincial Police Officer of Punjab IG Dr. Usman Anwar for solving 3 kidnapping for ransom cases and blind murder cases. He is an expert in CDR interpretation and geofencing. Importantly, Rahan Ali Khaliq was on leave for a promotion course, but due to his previous stats in crime tracking and technical skills, he was called upon to be a part of this team. He spearheaded an extensive search for the criminals, examining over 500 CCTV cameras to retrace their steps. Within a week, Khaliq and his team unearthed a trail of footage leading to the perpetrators.
In a stunning revelation, one of the robbers was identified as the son of a security guard serving in a factory located in a small industrial estate in Faisalabad, while another hailed from Kohat but had made Faisalabad his home. His own uncle, Noor Aslam, was found to be complicit in the heists. The investigation also led to the apprehension of an individual in Faisalabad who had supplied the robbers with a pistol.
As of now, the investigation remains ongoing, but the dedication of officers like Rahan Ali Khaliq offers a glimmer of hope in the fight against crime. In a noteworthy ceremony, Rahan Ali Khaliq was seen receiving a commendation certificate and cash prize from Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, SSP Operations Faisalabad, for his exemplary work. This incident underscores the importance of teamwork and the relentless pursuit of justice by the Faisalabad Police.
In these challenging times, the commitment and relentless efforts of our law enforcement officers, especially Rahan Ali Khaliq, deserve not just recognition but also our heartfelt appreciation. Their unwavering dedication to protecting our communities serves as a testament to the spirit of resilience in the face of adversity.
Rahan Ali Khaliq dedicates this successive success to PPO Punjab IG Dr. Usman Anwar, RPO Faisalabad Dr. Muhammad Abid Khan, and City Police Officer Faisalabad Capt. (R) Muhammad Ali Zia, and all seniors of the force.
