Islamabad : Jan 11 : Within 24 hours after resignation of Justice Mazahir Naqvi , justice Ejazul Ahsan , a senior judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) , also resigned from his post on Thursday. Justice Ejazul Ahsan ‘s resignation is a surprise for everyone in Pakistan. Justice Mazahir Naqvi was facing serious allegations of corruption and the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) was hearing a case against him. He probably resigned to get stopped further proceedings of SJC against him. However, apparently there was no such case against justice Ejazul Ahsan and he was, as yet, not on the SJC ‘s redar.
Justice Ejazul Ahsan ‘s strong and open opposition to SJC’s hearing against his brother judge Muzahir Naqvi was something unusual . It simply means a judge of the apex court comes up openly to get stopped proceedings in SJC against his close friend and a judge. Justice Ejazul Ahsan ‘s point of view to oppose SJC’s proceedings against Mazahir Naqvi was like a joke.
Can one believe that a judge worries to stop proceedings of SJC against another judge who was accused of minting money by misusing his office . There were rumours in the federal capital that justice Ejazul Ahsan also feared treatment like that of his brother judge Mazahir Naqvi and he resigned to avoid a potential reference against him in SJC.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) senior leader , Khawaja Asif , on Thursday told a private TV channel that one another judge of SCP is going to resign shortly. He, however , ruled out any crisis in the country due to these resignations of the judges of the apex court.
