Islamabad : Jan 22 , 2024: After a daylong disinformation spread by Pakistan’,s electronic media , Inspector general of Islamabad Police (IGP) , Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, finally came up to refute the media reports aired by almost all local private TV channels claiming that the law and order situational in Islamabad was under control and that the reports regarding closure of schools and colleges universities in the federal capital was incorrect .
The local private TV channels kept on airing reports for full day on Monday that in the wake of a security alert, the schools, colleges and universities in Islamabad have been closed for an indefinite period . The question arises as to why caretaker Information minister , Mr Solangi , did not contradict the reports which TV channels kept airing for the whole day. Another question arises as to why TV channels which copy the news of each other without checking their veracity were not asked to stop such highly irresponsible reporting ? .
Pakistani media houses particularly the electronic media has least credibility due to such kind of baseless reporting as they did on Monday in the case of security alert and closure of educational institutions in the federal capital for an indefinite period. Such blind reporting of local TV channels is going on unabated in Pakistan. There is no authority to stop such dangerous trend in Pakistan ‘s journalism. But the question of indifference of the government to such a highly alarming issue is even more alarming .
The chief spokesman of the government should have immediately issued a contradiction on the reports in question, but unfortunately it was not done. IGP Islamabad , Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, in his statement said the security in the federal capital was already on high alert due to the elections and a gathering of some people who hail from Balochistan He said the people who are staging protest in Islamabad have been conveyed of the risk and danger they are posing to their lives due to their sit in . However , he added, Islamabad police were providing security to the people at the stage in .
