PTI for peaceful protest on Sunday

Says protection of sanctity of votes must

Islamabad : Feb 10 : Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) core committee has given call for a peaceful protest for Sunday against what it said delay in announcement and alleged changes in the results of elections 2024 . PTI core committee held its maiden meeting with chairman Gohar Ali Khan after elections to consult post election scenario and chalk out a strategy for the future line of action. PTI chairman Gohar Khan announced the decisions taken in the core committee meeting. He said PTI is going for peaceful protest against alleged changes of the results of the elections. PTI backed candidates have contested the election held on February 8, 2024 as independents .

Despite a number of irritants , PTI backed candidates have won in a big numbers . According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) independents are in lead in the national assembly with 100 seats and still results of 20 seats of the lower house are awaited . The PTI core committee said the votes which the people entrusted in its backed independents is a sacred one and it would be protected . The PTI core committee ‘s decision is a loud message for its backed winners that the party workers will take care of the votes they have been entrusted on them by the voters in the election and protect it.

To stop its backed elected members of the parliament is a new task for PTI. After winning of independents in a big numbers for the national assembly and provincial assemblies , there is an impression that many of them will change their loyalties and switchover to other parties most probably the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) .

PTI will go to any extent to block any move aimed at alluring its backed independents. The core committee also said the decision taken in its Saturday meeting with come into effect after formal approval of party founding chairman Imran Khan who is spending his three terms in Adiala jail.
