Lahore : Feb 25 : Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) on Saturday made a big political gain when its nominees, Malik Mohammad Ahmad Khan , and Zaheer Iqbal won the contest for speaker and deputy speaker Punjab assembly respectively. Malik Mohammad Ahmad Khan got 224 votes in the house of 336 and Malik Zaheer Iqbal got 220 votes respectively. Malik Mohammad Ahmad Khan belongs to Kasur and he is considered a very sensible young politician of the Punjab. As many as 322 members of the Punjab voters for the speaker election. Malik Mohammad Ahmad Khan ‘s opponent Ahmad Khan Buchur could get only 96 votes . Malik Zaheer Iqbal got 4 votes less than Malik Ahmad Khan . Malik Zaheer Iqbal’s opponent , Moeen Riaz Qureahi got 103 votes.
Two votes were rejected .From very begining of the session called for the speaker election, the sitting of the provincial assembly turned aggressive when the members of PMLN and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) started to chant slogans against each others’ leadership inside the assembly.
SIC also protested against today’s elections . SIC leaders announced during the protest that they will continue to protest inside and outside the house until SiC is alloted reserved seats . After winning the election , Malik Mohammad Ahmad Khan took oath as a new speaker Punjab assembly. Outgoing speaker , Subtain Khan , administrated oath from newly elected speaker .
