Tabu’s Black Outfit Shines at Premiere of Dune

New York: Wearing a couture outfit by Indian textiles Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Tabu portrayed her character, Sister Francesca, with her red-carpet elegance at the HBO premiere of Dune: Prophecy in New York.

The renowned design team, known for their revivalist use of Indian fabrics and techniques, created a piece that combines Tabu’s dramatic presence and beauty with their skill.

The black Angarakha-inspired gown “has taken a month to create,” Tabu said to HBO Max, highlighting the meticulous artistry that went into it. In a similar attitude, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla wrote on Instagram that the dress is “a one-of-a-kind couture masterpiece” that accentuates Tabu’s “sculpted shoulders and tall frame.”

The group features their ‘Crushed Silk’ line, a distinctive texture made using a method they learned nearly 38 years ago. With more than fifty meters of pure khadi silk and hypnotic folds that conjure “an endless sea of maximal fabulist,” as the designers put it, the dress is truly stunning.

A pulled-back hairstyle, a smoky grey eye, and bold earrings with an emerald in the center finished Tabu’s goth-glam ensemble. She highlighted her exposed shoulders and a hint of décolletage with her understated yet striking style.

She paired her bold eye makeup with a soft blush and nude lips, which elegantly counterbalanced the ensemble’s drama. Her go-to accessory was a black knot clutch by Bottega Veneta.

Tabu co-stars with Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and Travis Fimmel in Dune: Prophecy, which takes place 10,000 years before the ascent of Timothée Chalamet’s character, Paul Atreides.

The show follows two Harkonnen sisters as they create the legendary cult known as the Bene Gesserit and fight against forces that threaten humanity’s destiny.
