This picture was taken stb 4. 30 PM on February 10th , 2025, at 4 PM in Islamabad’s E-11/4 sector, on the blessed occasion of the inauguration of Inayat Eye Hospital—a beacon of hope for those who have long struggled to find the right medical care for their vision.
One of the darkest moments of my life was when my beloved daughter was misdiagnosed with glaucoma—my worst nightmare. She has always been my pillar of strength, my unwavering support through every high and low. The mere thought of her losing sight permanently was unbearable, an anguish that words cannot truly describe . The wrong medication continued to cause her eyes dryness, irritation and persistent pain, something that gave me sleepless nights begging the Almighty for a miracle.
But fate, in its mysterious ways, led us to the right hands. Our spiritual neighbors from Khyber, the noble family of Pir Abdul Malak, referred her to Dr. Malak Inayat Khan. A son of the esteemed tribal chieftain Malak Bismillah Khan and the younger brother of my dear school fellow , Malak Shaukat Ullah Khan—the former Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—Dr. Inayat carried the weight of his family’s legacy with grace and dedication.
Had Shaukat Ullah been given a free hand during his tenure as Governor, backed by both political and military leadership, perhaps militancy in Pakistan would have been eradicated. But history took a different turn, and tragedy struck his family when his dear brother, Malak Hidayat Ullah, was martyred in a remote-controlled bomb blast on their own soil. A loss that reminds us of the sacrifices made by those who stand for peace. I will always carry the regret and national guilt to my grave when none those in power had the courtesy to visit the home of the Khans of Nawagai for condolence of their loss – a home that always served as the formidable fortress of Pakistan defence in tribal area of Bajaur.
I am eternally grateful to my school junior, Dr. Inayat, for restoring my daughter’s sight and for giving her the gift of a normal life—one where she no longer needs glasses, where she can spend hours reading without strain. And I cannot forget my New York based friend Ibrahim Khan, a kind soul , who stood by me in every think and thin . His son, Dr. Ismail, an obedient and respectful young man, will now train under Dr. Inayat at this remarkable institution to carry foreward legacy both of his mentor and noble father for serving humanity selflessly. .
Inayat Eye Hospital will not just be an eye hospital—it will be a sanctuary for those in distress. A place where financial status will always be secondary to the fundamental purpose of healing. And I stand here today, a testament to the power of the right people being in the right place at the right time. Because when that happens, miracles are no longer just stories—we live them.
