Islamabad : As budget is under debate in the parliament and a new flood of price hike is for sure, the Shahbaz government on Sunday gave a big shock to the people by increasing the prices of diesel and petrol massively.
The price of petrol has been increased by Rs 4.80 per litre. Similarly , diesel rates have been increased by Rs 7.95 per litre. With Sunday’s increase , petrol prices jumped up to Rs 258.43 per litre and diesel rates soared to Rs 262.59 per litre.
The new prices came into effect from mid night on Monday and remain in force for next fortnight.
The government follows a policy of fortnight review for adjusting the rates of the petroleum products.
The people of Pakistan are already moaning under huge financial burden and expect more financial problems as the budget 2025-26 comes into force and in the given situation big increase in the rates of petroleum products is bound to add to their financial woes.
