Workers remittances keep growing despite reduction in incentives

ISLAMABAD: Despite withdrawal of the incentives to overseas Pakistanis, the remittances for August 2025 has shown robust growth. In the second month of the current fiscal year–August 2025, the worker remittances stood at $ 3.1 billion. Pakistan has officially announced the worker remittances here. The official announcement to this effect said the worker remittances recorded an inflow of US$ 3.1 billion during August 2025.
It added that in terms of growth, remittances increased by 6.6 percent on y/y basis.

Cumulatively, with an inflow of US$ 6.4 billion, workers’ remittances increased by 7.0 percent
during first two months of FY26 compared to US$ 5.9 billion received during the same period last
year. Remittances inflows during August 2025 were mainly sourced from Saudi Arabia ($736.7 million),
United Arab Emirates ($642.9 million), United Kingdom ($463.4 million) and United States of
America ($267.3 million).
Pakistan is reliant on the worker remittances as its other channels to earn dollars to feed imports and other debt servicing are stagnant. Pakistani workers are sending home roughly 38 billion per annum and its working as a lifeline for the country. In a recent move, the government has reduced incentives announced during Imran Khan’s rule. Despite , reduction in incentives , Pakistani expats are keep on doing love by sending their hard-earned foreign exchange.
