Pakistani ambassador advises citizens in Saudi Arabia on responsible use of social media

Riyadh : Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Farooq, has advised Pakistani citizens residing in the Kingdom to use social media responsibly in light of the recent situation in the Middle East.

In a video statement shared on the social media platform X, the ambassador reassured that the overall situation across Saudi Arabia remains peaceful, stable, and satisfactory. He emphasized that citizens can continue their daily activities without fear or concern.

Ambassador Ahmed Farooq urged Pakistani nationals to act as responsible citizens by fully respecting local laws and avoiding the spread of rumors, speculation, and unverified information. He stressed the importance of careful and responsible use of social media, particularly considering the sensitivity of the current situation.

He further advised that only official sources of the Saudi government should be relied upon for accurate and timely information. Additionally, citizens were instructed to refrain from capturing or sharing images and videos of sensitive locations, including military installations, government, and diplomatic buildings.

The ambassador also warned against recording or sharing footage of any defensive activities observed in the air, such as drone or missile interceptions.

He added that Saudi Arabia’s airspace remains open and that air travel operations are continuing as normal.

In his concluding remarks, Ambassador Ahmed Farooq assured that the Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh is closely monitoring the situation and remains fully prepared to assist Pakistani citizens in case of any emergency. He also urged the community to remain calm, disciplined, and responsible.
