KARACHI: While referring poor governance and corrupt practices , federal Information minister, Fawad Chaudhary , on Sunday pleaded to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to impose article 140 A of the constitution to address issues confronted with the people of the province.
Fawad Chaudhary made this request to the Supreme Court while speaking to the journalists at Karachi Press Club.
Fawad Chaudhary gave Supreme Court chief justice’s remarks of the last week wherein he repremanded Sindh government for ignoring the public issues.
Article 140 A of the constitution demands formation of the local governments as per law in the provinces and devolve adminiatrative, financial and political powers to the local government to resolve issues faced by the people.
Fawad Chaudhary’s demand of imposing article 140 A in Sindh is indicative of desperation at federal level regarding its working with Sindh government.
Fawad Chaudhary said the federal government provides funds to the Sindh government for development in the province, but that funds are either laundered or deposited in fake accounts. He said PPP rule in Sindh has destroyed every institution, besides adding to the woes of the people of Sindh.
The federal Information minister demanded strict monitoring of public funds being used by Sindh government for different projects. He added that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) chief, Shahabaz Sharif, was using PPP and Maulana Fazalur Rehman, to grind his axe, but he would fail in his objective. He claimed that there was hell of difference in political approach of PPP chief, Balawal Bhutto and JUI head, Maulana Fazalur Rehman. He alledged that Maulana Fazalur Rehman was conspiring to make system fail by creating anorchy in the country.
Fawad Chaudhary noted that prime minister, Imran Khan, will lead party campaign in Sindh in next electios and it will help Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) win and form government in Sindh.
He said PTI government will reform electoral process to help Election Commission hold free, fair and transparent elections in the country.
Fawad Chaudhary claimed that Imran Khan has emerged as the first leader to formulate a clear policy on Afghanistan.
