ISLAMABAD: Interior ministry does not trust the Ehsas Programme for security and safety of National Data Registration Authority (NADRA) data and for the same its minister, Shaikh Rashid Ahmad, vehemently opposed a summary presented in the federal cabinet held last week here with prime minister, Imran Khan, in the chair, demanding the Interior ministry to hand over required NADRA data to the Ehsas Programme for its consumption.
The Ehsas Programme is like an effective tool of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf ( PTI) to reach out to the pro poor for financial assistance, besides extending much- needed technical education to young Pakistanis to get job or self-employment to enable them for playing a due role in progress of the country.
Reliable sources confided to NEWSMAN that Interior minister, Shaikh Rashid got furious in the cabinet meeting when the Ehsas Programme chairperson, senator , Dr Sania Ninshter , took hard stance on the summary, demanding handing over of NADRA data to the Ehsas Programme. She deplored that Shaikh Rashid Ahmad was taking unwanted and uncalled for position on the provision of NADRA data required by the Ehsas programme to segregate households, which deserve finanacial assistance.
She said NADRA,was a Pakistan’s data bank and not of the Interior ministry’s only.
“Shaikh Rashid sahib is a senior politician and he should facilitate the Ehsas Programme by extending support like provision of NADRA data rather than undermining its efforts to eridicate poverty from the country”, the senator remarked in the meeting.
Shaikh Rashid Ahmad, who is known for his aggressive posture no matter the forum is federal cabinet or Gawalmandi in Rawalpindi , immediately responded to Dr Sania Nishter’s flurry of words. He used harsh language against Dr Sania Nistar reminding her of what he called credibility of everyone.
Shaikh Rashid said ” I know many people who had similiar views, but misused Pakistan’s crucial data for their personal interest” .
Shaikh Rashid’s these remarks made Dr Sania Nishtar furious and she pouched on ShaIkh Rashid with even with even harsh words.
Rashid- Nishtar verbal clash created a fuss like situation in the cabinet meeting, forcing prime minister, Imran Khan , to intervene to control the situation.
