Army ready to thwart any evil designs against Pakistan: COAS

RAWALPINDI: Army chief, Qamar Javed Bajwa, on Monday said the army was fully ready to thwart any evil design against Pakistan.

The army chief said this while briefing the members of the parliamentary committees on defence and Kashmir.

The army chief gave a detailed presentation to the parliamentary committees on Afghan situation and its possible outcome on Pakistan.

The army chief told the parliamentary committees that the armed forces were fully aware of the situation that could emerged at Pak-Afghan border as a result of fast changing situation inside Afghanistan.He said the armed forces fully endorse elected government approach for support of coming all Afghan factions on the negotiating table to have inclusive government in Afghanistan.

The Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) issued a handout on the briefing giving by the army chief to the members of parliamentary committees at general headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Monday.

According to the ISPR, army chief, Qamar Javed Bajwa , gave indepth briefing to the parliamentarians on Afghan situation and its related developments. The army chief told the parliamentarians that the army was fully cognizant to the situation arising as a result of fall of Afghanistan to Taliban. The army chief said the army had taken a number of measures to safeguard western border and these steps helped the law enforcing agencies to establish law and order at all crossing points of the Pak-Afghan border during influx of Afghans in recent weeks. He said the armed forces have successfully weathered the challenges and with the support of the people restored normalcy in the all parts of the country.

The army chief also reiteriated Pakistan’s stance in Kashmir and noted that the lasting peace to the region was directly linked with the resolution of Kashmir issue. He said Pakistan will continue to support Kashmir cause at all available fora. The army chief responded to various queries raised by the parliamentary committees members durimg the briefing.
