Govt, PMLN brawl over London court’s judgement intensifies

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE London court ‘s judgement wherein it cleared Shahbaz Sharif’s family of money laundering case has resulted in triggering of a bitting controversy between the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) . Soon after announcement of the judgement, both the PTI government and PMLN gave sharp reaction to it. PMLN top leadership including vice president, Maryam Nawan, termed the judgement of the London’s court as a big win of Sharif family. She also called it as an exposure of PTI government’s falsehood initiated to malign repute of Nawaz Sharif and other Sharif family members. The PTI government’s key man on accountability front..Shahzad Akbar …also jumped into the fray. Since London court’s judgement had proven the PTI government’s much trumpeted narrative of accusing Sharifs of money laundering had fallen apart, Shahzad Akbar rushed to the media channels to explain the same evening that Shahbaz Sharif’s family acquittal was not a court judgement, rather in his views , British National Crime Agency (NCA) defreezed Shahbaz Sharif family’s accounts in London after its self -initiated investigations. He, probably, had the second thought soon that his narrative was perhaps unsaleable in the media. Being a shrewd person, he gave revised version of his statement the same evening. Later, Information minister , fawad Chaudhary, and state minister, Furrukh Habib, joined the band wagon to help Shahzad Akbar on the issue. The two sides were using every possible channel to win the fight on London court’s judgement , but Shahbaz Sharif’s entry into the controversy gave it a new dimension . His press conference on Wednesday to claim that after judgement of London’s court Sharif family stands vindicated in all the cases of money laundering and on its basis, there was no credibility of the NAB cases filed against Sharifs in different local courts. As was imminent, the government spokesman called Shahbaz Sharif’s press conference a big lie.
Fawad Chaudhary in his statement said Shahbaz Sharif spoke nothing but falsehood in his press conference to mislead the masses on the London court’s judgement.

Fawad Chaudhary as Information minister can make hundered claims in media on the issue, but his statements full of wisdom may not help PTI government to make up for damage caused to it by London court’s judgement.
