ISLAMABAD; Prime minister’s former special assistant, Jamshaid Iqbal cheema , had stormed into a meeting of Agriculture Transformation Plan (ATP) committee held in Islamabad last week, obstructing the proceedings of the meeting, besides leaving its participants in shock. Federal minister for Food Security , Syed Fakhar Imam , was in the chair when ex special assistant to the prime minister dashed into the ATP committee meeting.
Sources told NEWSMAN that Jamshaid Iqbal Cheema’s uncalled entry into the ATP committee meeting held last week had created sense of uneaseness among the participants who could not proceed to the agenda of the meeting in the presence of an outsider.
“We noted with serious concern illegal entry of ex- special assistant to the prime minister and hence felt it appropriate to defer the agenda of the ATP committee to the next meeting.
Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader and spouse of Musarat Jamshaid Cheema, a provincial minister in Punjab cabinet , Jamshaid Iqbal Cheema, was special assistant to the prime minister and the convenor of ATP . He had resigned some three months ago as special assistant to the prime minister and convenor of ATP commitree to contest a by- election on PTI ticket from NA- 133 Lahore. His spouse , Mussarat Jamshaid Cheema, was his covering candidate for NA 133 Lahore by-election. Both Jamshaid Iqbal Cheema and his wife had got disqualified as their proposer and seconder were not the voters of NA 133 constituency.
” The ATP committee has decided to take up the matter of Jamshaid Cheema’s uncalled for and illegal entry into ATP committee meeting to the prime minister.
“Its a serious issue and violation of the rules of business as no unauthorised person can intrude into any forum where the policy decisions take place and on the same basis the committee is going to refer the case of Jamshaid Iqbal Cheema to the prime minister for seeking his direction for the future on the subject”, a member of ATP committee divulged in his off the record talk with NEWSMAN.
This correspondent tried to reach out to Jamshaid Iqbal Cheema for his version to add it to the story but he did not respond to repeated calls made on his cell phone.
