Lahore, January 29, 2025 – The Child Rights Movement (CRM) Punjab, whose secretariat is with GODH, organized a special Seminar on the topic “Interconnectedness of
Climate Change with the Well-being and Future of Children” at the Girl-Guide Association (PGGA).
Dr. Naeem Zafar (CEO PAHCHAN) gave a detailed presentation on climate change, its harmful effects, preventive measures, and how Pakistan, despite contributing less to global climate change, faces severe consequences.
Ms. Samina Ashraf (Regional Director FPAP and Executive Member of Pakistan Climate Action Network – PCAN) shared insights about PCAN, a network dedicated to addressing climate issues in Pakistan. She highlighted how various organizations and institutions are working together under PCAN to mitigate climate change effects.
Ms. Nadeema, an executive member of PGGA (Pakistan Girl Guides Association),spoke about their efforts to raise awareness among young girls.
Ms. Kanwal Liaqat, MPA and Parliamentary Secretary for Environment, discussed the current government policies and initiatives aimed at reducing the impact of climate change on children. She emphasized the steps being taken to implement environmental protection strategies at the national and provincial levels.
This seminar was organized under CRM Punjab, which operates nationally with five chapters across all four provinces and at the national level, engaging over 400 organizations.Nazir Ahmed Ghazi, Executive Director of GODH, concluded the session, emphasizing the need for collective action to protect children from climate change-related risks.
