ISLAMABAD: The traders from all over Pakistan gathered outside the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) headquarters in Islamabad on Wednesday.
All Pakistan Anjuman Tajran had given the call for protest against FBR for making mandatory for small traders to register under sales tax regime.
The traders community gathered outside FBR to resist the government move in a big number. All Pakistan Anjuman e Tajran president, Ajmal Baloch, and secretary , Khalid Chaudhary led the traders protest that was continuing till filing of these report at 11.15 pm.
The traders community had refused to succumb to different FBR pressure tactics like divide and rule of their community, besides creating confusion by arranging a press conference of a selected businessmen group a few day ago and finally called upon their fellow traders to reach outside FBR headquarters for ‘Dama Dum’.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday All Pakistan Anjuman e Tajran central leaders, Ajmal Baloch and Khalid Chaudhary announced to continue sit in till acceptance of traders demands.
Traders community is protesting against registration of vendors and small traders in Sales Tax regime and FBR, instead taking their demands seriously for addressing its concerns, was trying to divide it. It had ignored the protesting traders demands and invited a small group of Islamad based traders a few days ago for ‘talks’ on their demands. FBR also arranged a press conferenece with the invited traders group on the same day and declared that there have bèen a complete understanding between the traders and FBR officials to create an impression that the issue of traders was over and there would be no protest against FBR on September 29.
