Education Ministry Plans to Roll Out Smart Classrooms

Islamabad: Through the introduction of smart classrooms, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, in partnership with UNESCO Pakistan, has initiated a program to improve digital education for girls in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The goal of this project is to increase girls’ access to education in underserved communities.

UNESCO delegates and senior ministry officials attended a meeting led by Federal Education Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, where it was decided to provide 80 government girls’ schools with cutting-edge IT tools.

The project would provide smart classroom technology to primary-level girls in eight districts across AJK and GB, Secretary Wani noted, underscoring its significance in addressing educational gaps in rural places.

Students would be able to interact more actively with their material in smart classrooms, the secretary explained, thanks to interactive technologies, digital content, and tailored learning interfaces.

He stated, “This integration of advanced tools will provide young girls in these regions with a learning environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving.”

Another component of the effort is a specially designed teacher training program that emphasizes incorporating technology into the classroom.

Teachers will receive training on how to employ AI-enabled tools to improve instruction and learning outcomes for students.

For the transition to be successful, Wani underlined that local educators needed to be trained to establish an inclusive learning environment that caters to the particular needs of primary school girls in AJK and GB.

Wani stated that regardless of where they lived, young girls would have access to high-quality education thanks to the new tools and teacher capacity-building.

“This initiative is a valuable gift for girls in these marginalized areas. It demonstrates our commitment to equitable and inclusive education.”

The implementation of teacher training and IT resources reflects the Ministry of Education’s and UNESCO’s common goal of creating a cutting-edge, inclusive educational system.

He continued, “These initiatives will give girls in AJK and GB the information and abilities they need to prosper in a world that is becoming more and more digital.”
