Federal cabinet approves get Nawaz back mission

ISLAMABAD; The Federal cabinet on Wednesday approved a get Nawaz back mission and directed to the government to use all options including legal channel to bring the ‘absconder’ Nawaz Sharif back to Pakistan to complete the remaining jail term. Former prime minister and PMLN supremo leader, Mian Nawaz Sharif was awarded a 10- year jail term in Al- Azizia reference. He was completing his jail term when one fine morning a news of his serious health problem hit the headlines in the media . Since he had already undergone heart surgery in UK, his family doctors and PMLN leaders demanded of the government to grant Nawaz Sharif one time concession to travel to UK and get treatment there. This debate was yet to see the end when a court granted Nawaz Sharif one time permission to go to UK and get treatment from doctors of his choice. The case was finally presented to prime minister, Imran Khan, for his final nod which he gave probably on the bases of medical tests reports, which confirmed serious threat to Nawaz Sharif health if he was not allowed to go to UK for treatment His departure from Pakistan for treatment in UK as convict had raised a number of questions which are yet to be answered. For example, does the law of land allow any convict to go abroad for treatment and this facility is available for other Pakistanies who have ‘ill-gotton’ money to get treated abroad?. Another question which boggles people’s minds is what did the Imran government achieve by permitting Nawaz to go abroad ? Wednesday’s federal cabinet meeting’s decision to bring Nawaz Sharif back from UK by using all options gives answer of the fundamental question that Imran Khan feels cheated by medical experts and some of his close party aides like Doctor Yasmin Rashid, health minister in Buzdar’s government. Imran Khan had expressed distrust over Nawaz ‘s medical reports soon after his departure. His first response to Nawaz style of getting into the chartered plane to embark upon UK mantra was The man (Nawaz) did not seem a serious patient. But by the time it had been too late for Imran Khan to stop the ‘patient’ from going abroad. Now he feels Nawaz’ s departure for ‘treatment’ seriously dented his party and weakened his position and narrative on accountability. After the federal cabinet meeting chaired by the prime minister, Information minister, Shibli Faraz, announced that Imran Khan’ s government will bring back Nawaz Sharif no matter how it happens, but he probably does not know there is not a single case which could be referred to whom UK handed over to government of Pakistan in the past who could be prosecuted or jailed. According to Shibli Faraz, the government will move the court against Shahbaz Sharif who had become a guarantor of his elder brother in this case. Raja Javed, chairman peace international Uk told NEWSMAN by phone from London that the chances for government of Pakistan to get Nawaz back from UK are very weak as this country never sends any asylum seeker back to the original country where the wanted person fears of unfair prosecution or punishment.
