ISLAMABAD: May 26, 2023: Firdous Ashiq Awan , former federal minister, parted ways with Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) over May 8 vandalism.
Firdous Ahsiq Awan announced her disassociation from PTI at a press conference held here on Friday. She said Imran Khan incited youth of the party for violent protest which tarnished Pakistan’s image globally. Firdous Ashiq Awan said she believes in politics based on Pakistan first and May 9 violent protest of PTI was totally in negation to her concept of politics.
She added that Imran Khan‘s brainwashed PTI young workers to damaged Pakistan’s armed forces and his objective is to weaken the state of Pakistan. She demanded punitive action against all those who were involved in attacks on army installations on May 9. Firdous Ashiq Awan said she is resigning from PTI.
Dozens of PTI leaders have resigned from the party in the wake of May 9 violent protests and there seems more resignations in coming days.
PTI itself is under threat of its existence. The government has already hinted at banning PTI citing its action of May 9.
PTI leaders and staunch supporters who are involved in attacks on military installations and house of corps commander Lahore are facing action under The Army Act .
